Superior First Class Hotel. (exterior) Eco style resort. Approx one acre grounds, a long strip of garden directly on the beach with green cliff back-drop looking out to private bay with coral reef. The grounds have established trees and flowers, black sand pathways to each bungalow and to the sand floor restaurant dining is on the beach overlooking the ocean. (lobby) Reception Hours: 7.30am to 8pm. (general) It is the most fantastic Robinson Crusoe experience to stand on the black sand beach and swim in the clear waters of our private sandy cove. Electricity is powered by generator and is available from dusk until approximately 10:00pm. Guests need to be aware there are no TV?s, no internet and no international roaming for phones. You can just relax, knowing everything you came to see and experience is only a stone?s throw away. Friendly Beach is a co-operative eco-resort operating with the support from two local villages, Lounasunan and Louno on the island of Tanna. All employees are sourced from the same two villages and a percentage of all gross profit goes back to the two villages on whose land this resort was originally developed. The operation of Friendly Beach offers a remarkable and genuine Melanesian experience and promotes sustainable tourism benefiting the people of remote Tanna.

Location
Friendly Beach is located on the remote coast of Tanna closest to all natural cultural and geographic attractions including Mt Yasur volcano and Port Resolution (opposite side and across central Tanna to the airport). On the beach and only 6 km from the base of the ash plains of famous Mt Yasur Volcano. There are no shops, restaurants or public transport nearby. To get to Friendly Beach, it is about one and a half hours by 4WD across the rugged mountain chain, through the jungle villages, right across the middle of Tanna and you arrive at Friendly Beach close to all the sights and sounds of real Tanna including the hot mineral springs, custom dancing, Port Resolution and the Jon Frum village. The property is 1.5 hours (on only 30km of road, but over a mountain range) from Tanna Domestic Airport.
Policy
**** Compulsory National Tourism Levy Tax, currently AUD $1.20 per room, per night is included in the room rate**** - Transfers to and from the resort are compulsory and is to be paid directly to the hotel. Due to the distance over the mountain range, all guests must be met personally by Friendly Beach staff at Lenakal (Tanna) airport. They will then be transferred in an open cabin 4WD (or similar) from the Tanna domestic airport to Friendly Beach. The trip takes approximately one and a half hours each way. Transfers are compulsory as there is no public transport system or taxi service in Tanna. PLEASE NOTE: The road can be dusty so sunglasses and a light jacket to protect from dust are advised. Please limit luggage to one small bag per person. Local currency cash, visa and MasterCard are accepted. Payment by credit card will incur a small additional credit card fee. .
Rooms
Designed to maximise the spectacular view and access to the private black sand swimming beach. Each fare is made using all natural materials including local timber, woven bamboo, wild cane, stone and coral, pandanas matting, coconut and natangora roofing.Local timber floors. Windows are timber louvred and fitted with wire insect screens. the luxury ensuite bathrooms have natural coral floors two stone basins, large mirror, coral rock walls and deluxe large rain shower. The Queens Beds have mosquito nets and quality sheeting. Electricity is supplied by generator (limited hours) and there are no phones or safety deposit boxes.
Dining
The Friendly Beach sand floor restaurant and bar features a set menu exclusively for guests, using mostly locally sourced produce including seasonal fresh fruit, vegetables, fish and if lucky lobster. The dining room for guests only, facing ocean, set meals catered daily. Dietary requirements or allergies must be advised minimum 72 hours prior notice. Lunch and dinner are cooked to order. Picnic lunches can be arranged during the stay. There are no self-catering facilities on site. Meals are simple and utilise fresh local produce, especially seafood and local organic beef.
